Cliff top footpath under threat from developers

Looking down on Whipsiddery in Pastels. This view may be precluded from the coastal path if developers get their way as they attempt to move the cliff path back to make way for an expensive housing development. The Southwest Coastal path is part of the National Heritage and every man, woman and child has the right to walk along it. To remove sections of the path so that a wealthy few can enjoy the view is utterly abhorent and very wrong.

What is worse, the developers want to spray concrete onto the cliffs to supposedly stabilise them.

Sketchbook Inspiration

I think all artists go though blank patches when it is hard to get inspired for one reason or another much like writers block.
A white piece of paper and no inspiration but the need to do something is there.

I follow so many interesting people on Facebook who post lovely photographs and over the years I have taken countless thousands of pictures around Devon and Cornwall so I must be able to find something to get the spark to burst into flames.

Secluded beach at Rame Head

From time to time, a watercolour sketch that is intended as an underpainting for a Pastel painting evolves into a watercolour painting.
This is a small inaccessible cove on the eastern side of Rame Head below St.Michaels Chapel.

Dog Portraits

From time to time, I paint dog portraits which is something I love doing. It is so important to have good quality photographs of a dog to work from as there is nothing worse the low resolution snaps taken with a mobile phone.

Meet Scoot. I painted his portrait in pastels lin June this year. Scoot is a working search and rescue dog, one of the canine world's amazing hero's. Scoot's owner gave me lovely quality photos that captured his personality which made my task very enjoyable.

Little Fistral evening surf

Little Fistral evening surf

Little Fistral which lies let to the Newquay Headland at the North end of Fistral beach is a much loved spot by local surfers and enjoys some quite sublime waves. This painting in pastels over watercolour on watercolour paper is of the early evening surf earlier on this year.
I love the combinations of warm and cool colours which so often can make a painting sing.

This painting is available for sale, Double Mounted with a Hidden mount behind to prevent pastel dust marking the main mount.

Wet stormy day at Perranporth

Over the last 30 or so years, I have often come to Perranporth both for Surfing pleasure and for artistic inspiration. This occasion was just my kind of day, a bit on the wild side but not so bad that you needed full waterproofs.
